Futures is a growing network of prominent institutions working in the field of contemporary photography, from photo festivals to museums. This month, we are proud to welcome three new partners to our project: Void (Greece), Tbilisi Photo Festival (Georgia) and Copenhagen Photo Festival (Denmark).
As Futures members, these three institutions will be part of our professional programme in 2021, such as local events throughout the year, tutoring sessions and our annual event. They will also nominate a group of rising artists to join the platform.
They join the 11 other members of the platform: British Journal of Photography (UK), The Calvert Journal (UK), CAMERA - Centro Italiano per la Fotografia (IT), Hyères Festival (FR), FOMU (BE), Fotofestiwal Lodz (PL), PHotoESPAÑA (ES), PhotoIreland (IR), Photo Romania Festival (RO), Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center (HU) and Triennial of Photography Hamburg (DE). We also have a research partner Eurokleis, from Italy.
These are the new members:
Void
Founded in October 2016 by João Linneu (BRA), Myrto Steirou (GRE) and Sylvia Sachini (GRE), Void is a non-profit organization engaged in alternative publishing, exhibitions and education. With focus on photography, Void has an alternative approach to it, exploring unorthodox design, communication and printing techniques to promote the medium.
Tbilisi Photo Festival
Founded in 2010 in partnership with Les Rencontres d’Arles, the Tbilisi Photo Festival was born in an attempt to unveil the deep and fast changing realities palpable everywhere in Georgia by contributing to the rise of the local and regional photographic scene while bringing to Tbilisi the best of world photography. The Tbilisi Photo Festival has been co-founded by the Georgian journalist and photo-curator Nestan Nijaradze and the French photographer Lionel Charrier, currently Photo Editor in chief of the daily newspaper Libération.
Copenhagen Photo Festival
Copenhagen Photo Festival is the largest photo festival in the Nordic region with more than 50 exhibitions in collaboration with galleries, museums and cultural institutions in Copenhagen and southern Sweden. The festival focuses on development. New forms of exhibiting, new ways to use photography as well as new perspectives and emerging talents. It presents a programme of high quality – artistically and conceptually – building bridges between fine art and documentary photography.
