From Sept. 22 to Oct. 22, 2023, an exhibition marked the second episode of the opening month inside the FUTURES hub with an immersive journey into the world of Swiss talent Nicolas Polli. Titled "Dear Moment, I Keep U for Later," the exhibition invited visitors to witness the evolution of Polli's work.
Polli's project went beyond conventional boundaries, manipulating images, layering, and juxtaposing them within the exhibition space to create a multi-dimensional experience. His artistic vision, which oscillated between commercial creation and profound reflections on waste and consumerism, offered thought-provoking insights into contemporary society. In his quest to immerse himself in the local culture of Amsterdam, Polli embarked on a series of explorations, delving into the city's markets, and engaging in performances centered around food.
Through these investigations, he sought to understand the intricacies of Amsterdam's fast-paced lifestyle by researching questions of consumption, waste, and the ethos of reuse.
During the exhibition, analog techniques were used, with paper cuttings and ripples forming the basis of his compositions. Conceptually, he represented the layering of advertising in the street, where one advertisement goes on top of another one, and a poster goes on top of another one, keeping track of the fast-consuming society we live in.
The residency program was supported by Pro Helvetia.
