We are thrilled to announce Claudia Fuggetti as the selected artist for the FUTURES X MPB Residency Program.
Born in Taranto in 1993, after graduating in Cultural Heritage, she attended the Master's in Photography and Visual Design at NABA, Milan. Subsequently, she graduated with honors in Digital Cultures at Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera. Claudia's works have been exhibited at Les Rencontres de la Photographie Arles (FR), Fotofestival Lenzburg (CH), and Copenhagen Photo Festival (DK), among others. In addition, her work has been recognized by renowned institutions such as IPA - The International Photo Awards, Der Greif, and the British Journal of Photography.
For the FUTURES X MPB Residency Program, Claudia brings Metamorphosis, a project that delves into the current historical period, reflecting on the transition and change affecting both humanity and nature.
“The project invites viewers to reconsider nature as a living entity. Chromatic interventions in the photographs symbolize the presence of life that persists even in adverse environmental conditions. However, artificial colors simultaneously highlight the consumption of natural resources: reality is perceived as manifold and changeable, fragmented, and limited. The human presence is suspended, contemplative, and meditative, in an attempt to establish a new connection with the natural elements. The symbolism of colors expresses the regenerative and pulsating potential at the heart of the Earth, constructing new imagery. Amid the challenges of the Anthropocene, nature demonstrates an innate capacity for evolution and metamorphosis.”
The residency will start in April, offering Claudia the opportunity to delve deeper into her project and explore her practice. The journey will end with a public event on May 16th, where Claudia will showcase her work. The event aims to foster communal engagement and contemplation. “Participants are encouraged to embark on a sensory journey of discovery, exploring the intricate interplay between humanity and the natural world through the lens of Metamorphosis”.
Furthermore, Claudia will have the privilege to explore and utilize equipment provided by MPB, a leading platform for buying and selling used photography and videography equipment. This collaboration will empower Claudia to push the boundaries and explore her practice.
Stay tuned for more information.
