The image is the crop of a scene extrapolated from wider scenario. On the mountain landscape, I temporarily installed this grid for climbing plants, changes the reading of the overall view. The sculptural operation imposes itself on reading and changes the language.

After the taken photo, the scene dies and regenerates itself in infinite interpretations, for to that sign (the grid) inserted in the context in a forced way. I analyze only the element and separate it from the original image, drawing the grid on tracing paper in the same proportion for a direct comparison.

The absence determines the presence in a continuous exchange of balances. The image disappears where the sign is born.

Lives and Works in
I was born and raised in Torino (b. 1990), to be precise at the base of Val di Susa. I studied at the academy to follow the course of graphics where I learned the basics of semiotics and image perception.

My research that for formality can be described as photographic due to the medium used, even if the dimension that belongs to me is more related to the image, to what it communicates to us and how it is perceived. Like the graphic design my photographs tend to a clear reading, which privileges functionality to pure aesthetic beauty, to finalize the reading to a deeper stage of cognitive perception. I have two different aspects: the construction of the image by the sculpture, and the archiving of the photos that I collect in certain carefully chosen environments. It’s very important to me to return many times to the settings that I selected. Both approaches are always formalized and captured through photography.

In 2019 I was finalist of the FFF Fondazione Francesco Fabbri award. My work has been featured in many national and international exhibitions: Audi Studio by Nevven Gallery, Stockholm; Villa Vertua Masolo, Milano; Spaziosiena, Siena; LOFT, Lecce; Las Palmas, Lisbon; Galleria Giuseppe Pero, Milano; BASIS, Frankfurt; Spaziobuonasera, Torino.

I’ve started this series in 2017 by “Qualcosa che sta per qualcuno al posto di qualcos’altro”. My focus is on landscape and about the element that characterize it and make it understandable.

The sculpture construction outside the original habitat and context looses the naturally function by the object. I use photography to documents the presents of the sculpture, after that I demount it, leaving space only for the image of the installation.

The only photo image of the sculpture leave the people free to understand proportion, dimension, real-fake, empty and full. The sculpture absence clutter more than its physical version and we are led to imagine how it should have been and what would it useful. This is a focus on context-object-scene-scenario.

At the moment I’ve worked on pieces for the cities landscape: Turin (north of Italy), Lecce (south) and Siena (center).
