From now on, everything will be different
Eva Kreuger
Browsing through my vast collection of imagery, which consists of pictures found online, registrations of my earlier exhibitions as well as experiments in my studio, I re-use them to construct new work. The reappearance of formerly used materials in new projects creates echoes of their original meaning. Like a novelist, who plays with words, I play with images to compile sentences and narratives in space. Struggling with the flat surface of the photographic medium, I bend and fold them into shape to transfer the images from the wall into the space.
Stripped from their provenance, copied and manipulated, they show traces of ink, paper and glue of distorted memories. Shifting back and forth between two and three dimensional objects, the images keep changing as I keep making up my mind.
Eva Kreuger (1995), lives and works inHaarlem, the Netherlands. She graduated from the AKV | St.Joost Breda, department of photography, with her graduation project “Ik doe alsof ik weetwaar alles hoort”.
Kreuger uses her own archive as the starting point of her work in which she combines photography, found footage, and texts.Intuitively she categorizes, combines and edits images, and uses the exhibition space as a canvas to build new stories on.
