Organ Vida selection in 2024 is based on a group of photographers and visual artists working in the broader regional context of former Yugoslavia. Their artistic practice covers a variety of visual approaches that document but also speculate about everyday life and different possibilities of intimate storytelling. For Eva Bevec everyday is captured in the homely setting full of absurdity and curiosity. David Bakarić Mihaljević documents personal everyday life narrated as a generational perspective on growing up in imaginary space where digital and fictional worlds collide. In Lucija Rosc’s practice everyday family life is fictionalised and it further questions the role of memory through playful staging of reality. Petra Slobodnjak is a participant observer of the communal living experience which translates the spontaneity of shared everyday life situations. Pavle Banović proposes a diary format of everyday life spent in New York where their camera gaze intertwines with other protagonists they encounter along the way.

Petra Slobodnjak is an artist from Croatia who graduated from the Faculty of Graphic Arts, studying graphic product design, in Zagreb in 2012. Since 2014, Petra has been working as a freelance graphic designer and photographer. She is a Croatian Freelance Artist Association member and has exhibited her work regularly since 2008. For work DISPLACEMENT Planinska 7, she received the Ivan Kožarić award for the best young artist, awarded by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb and the City of Zagreb (in 2022) and award for the Best Young Artist in 2022 awarded by the Croatian Association of Artists of Applied Arts. The mentioned work is part of the Museum of Contemporary Art collection in Zagreb. Her artistic work intertwined with her personal life, examining the boundaries between these two aspects. She explores the dynamics of society in her works, emphasizing personal responsibility in shaping the environment. Through artistic expression, she fosters awareness of an individual’s impact on broader societal changes, encouraging reflection on one’s actions and relationship to the surroundings. She is currently based in Zagreb.
Eva Bevec (b. 1998) is a designer, visual artist, and photographer based in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She completed her undergraduate studies in visual communications (with a focus in graphic design) with honors at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana in 2020. She continued her design studies abroad, at the Master Department of Information Design at the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands, where she graduated with honors in 2023. In her artistic and design practice, Eva explores various media and topics, always connected by a genuine interest in the ordinary and the banal aspects of her surroundings. Through curious and critical investigation and documentation of the seemgly mundane, she reveals deeper and broader social, political, as well as aesthetic questions, patterns and implications. The prosaic becomes the extraordinary and the extraordinary becomes the poetic.
David Bakarić Mihaljević, born in 2001. In Zagreb, is an undergraduate student of cinematography at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. With ambitions of completing a master's degree in photography at the academy, David has had three solo exhibitions and participated in five group exhibitions. One of these, named "So Far," he organized himself with the help of his colleagues and friends. Besides photography, and prior to attending the Academy, David filmed two experimental documentaries. His film, "From You I Am Happy," was shown in the non-competition program at the Zg Dox festival.
Pavle Banović worked and exhibited in spaces in Belgrade (Serbia) including Museum of Contemporary art, Goethe Institute, U10 and Podroom Gallery; P74 and Kresija Gallery in Ljubljana, Künstlerhaus and Queer Museum in Vienna as well as Residency Unlimited in New York. They won the Telekom Srbija award (2018) as well as the IFCA (2020) in Maribor and Mangelos award (2022) awarded by the Center for Contemporary art in Belgrade and The Foundation for Civil Society in New York. They are a member of D.U.O. artist group. In their work, Pavle explores and tries to reexamine the various forms of existence and action today. Analyzes the relationship between individuals and ideologies and how they can destabilize each other. The last few years with a focus on contemporary technologies, how they disrupt and shape our life experiences and vice versa.
Lucija Rosc (1995) is a visual artist who lives and works in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She completed her undergraduate studies in photography at VIST – Faculty of Applied Sciences in Ljubljana (2018) and finished her master’s degree in Visual Communication Design specializing in photography with a special distinction at UL ALUO (2022). Rosc is a recipient of the UL ALUO Prešeren Award for her master’s thesis. She has had several solo exhibitions, and her work has been presented at the contemporary photography fairs Unseen Amsterdam and Photo Basel, the art fair Viennacontemporary, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova, Škuc Gallery, P74 Gallery, and UGM, among others. Her art practice combines an investigative approach with play, drawing inspiration from her childhood memories, family archives, and the environment in which she grew up.
